Associate/Full Professor
Position Description: We are seeking a qualified individual for a faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level for the Water Research Division of our Center. The successful candidate is expected to advance the research agenda of the Division of the EEWRC in close collaboration with the Center?s Director. The faculty member should conduct research including the pressing problems of water availability and water use on Cyprus and in the Eastern Mediterranean, integrated water management, hydrological modeling, water-use efficiency, drought management and alternative water sources, land use management and ?green water? and investigations exploring the balance between environmental water and anthropogenic water consumption. The successful candidate will work in Nicosia, Cyprus, and will be hired as a faculty member at the rank of either Associate or Full Professor depending on qualifications. He/she will be reporting directly to the Director of the EEWRC. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive salary and benefits package. Responsibilities: The new Faculty member will be responsible for: * shaping the Division?s research agenda in collaboration with the Director of the EEWRC and the respective Associate Director by developing and implementing strategies appropriate to the Center?s missions and objectives, * helping to develop a world-class research program, in the candidate's field of interest, * assisting the Director of the EEWRC in recruiting staff for the respective Division within the Center, * realizing and implementing the design of the research facilities appropriate to the research of the Division, * raising financial and other resources for the needs of their respective Division from national and international sources, * contributing to the educational mission of the EEWRC and of the CyI, * initiating and sustaining high-level contacts with leading institutions throughout the world which conduct research in areas related to their respective fields. Profile: The candidate should be an outstanding scholar of international repute, with a minimum of 5 years? experience in conducting research. Previous responsibility for building research groups and/or managing complex projects from development to implementation would be a strong advantage. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, with strong capacities for managing human resources and for maintaining contacts in the academic, business and governmental circles, as well as obtaining support from them for the Center. Proficiency in spoken and written English is indispensable.
