Associate Research Scientist
The EEWRC is the first research center of the Cyprus Institute (CyI). The Center is rapidly becoming an important research resource for the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa addressing energy, environment and water issues and is being established in close collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We are looking for a person with a background in methods aimed at enhancing water use efficiency and/or water quality assessments and the provision of appropriate measures to safeguard potable water. The successful candidate will have experiences in analytical/field investigations of water quality as well as practical knowledge in addressing a more efficient use of water, e.g., by devising measures minimizing water losses through insufficiently maintained distribution networks. Appointments will be for a fixed term of initially two years with an option for renewal. A Ph.D. in a relevant field, at least two to three years of post-doctoral experience and proficiency in spoken and written English are indispensable. Experience in generating and maintaining contacts in academic circles, as well as in obtaining support for research projects from funding organizations, will be an important advantage.
