ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II (WQIF Grant Program Specialist), #P0327; Richmond, VA; Minimum Salary Starting At: $40,959 The Department of Environmental Quality?s (DEQ), Water Division?s Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP), seeks a qualified applicant to assist in implementing and administering the Water Quality Improvement Fund Point Source Grant Program. This position also provides support for contributing and completing tasks assigned to the CBP regarding nutrient reduction strategies, restoration and protection initiatives, development of information and progress reports.

Qualifications include comprehensive knowledge of wastewater treatment principals and unit operations; physical, chemical, and biological processes in aquatic environments (freshwater and estuarine); water pollution control techniques and programs. Demonstrated experience in contract/grant negotiations, project and budget management and administration; teamwork principles. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and manage program area functions; possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in a complex and technical environment; experience with personal computers, automated databases, and Microsoft Office Suite software. Degree in environmental engineering, natural and/or physical science or equivalent training/experience preferred. The Commonwealth does not provide sponsorship; therefore, applicants must be a citizen or national of the U.S., a Lawful Permanent Resident, or an alien authorized to work. Excluding current DEQ employees, the selected candidate MUST pass a criminal background check.
