Our service area focuses on the Northeast but includes the 27 States currently being serviced by our sister companies in American Water. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Position Overview Due to growth and promotion, AWM is currently seeking candidates for the following engineering position: Project Engineer ? Location: Alexandria, VA Undertakes assignments and activities related to the development of water and wastewater infrastructure projects including preparation of feasibility studies, acquisition of permits, and design of facilities. Typical projects include, but are not limited to, potable water wells, treatment facilities, storage tanks, and water distribution systems along with sewers, pumping stations, septic systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. Performs engineering calculations, contributes to the preparation of engineering and project reports, conducts field investigations, develops engineering cost estimates and prepares design sketches and drawings, all under the supervision of a managing engineer. Provides limited assistance in the development of new business documents and proposals. Prepares portions or entire project reports/designs for project manager. Person hired will help maintain replacement and rehabilitation program at 25 MGD WWTP in Georgia. Job duties will include understanding different types of equipment, prescriptive and preventative maintenance and long term costs issues associated with each piece of equipment. Design of new WWTP, WTP (25,000 gpd - 1.5 MGD ranges) Collection and distribution system design Individual will help develop onsite water and wastewater projects Qualifications: ?BS ? Civil or Environmental Engineering (with a strong background in wastewater and water treatment technologies). ?EIT (or ability to pass within 6-months) ?Proficient use of the following programs: Auto-Cad (or similar), Excel, and Word ?Understanding of: GIS, MS-Schedule, and Lotus Notes ?Wastewater treatment kinetics and effluent testing and process limitations. Understanding of BioWin (by EnviroSim) is a plus. ?Drinking water treatment techniques and contaminant removal techniques ?Construction cost estimating techniques. ?Ability to write and edit engineering proposals and reports Compensation and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience and market competitiveness.
