Senior Hydrologist
•An advanced science degree in hydrology, including water quality parameters and related regulations, applied experience with conceptualization, design, and application of surface and groundwater flow and transport models •Field experience in northern climates, including permafrost systems •Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in professional environmental or engineering consulting firms or industry, including supervision and mentoring of junior staff •Excellent written and oral communication skills including successful proposal writing, budgeting, and client management •Ability to work on larger, multidisciplinary assignments such as impact assessments, with other professionals; and clients in a cross cultural environment •The desire to be part of and contribute to a team of hard-working, fun professionals •Willingness to reside in Alaska for at least three years, and work in remote regions as necessary to meet client demands and expectations •Superb references from clients and peers 3PPI is a responsive, high energy, quality-product oriented natural resource consulting firm which has been operating in Alaska since 1992 and throughout the contiguous lower 48 states since 2006. Based in Anchorage in south-central Alaska, the firm offers a wide range of natural resource related services including wetland delineations, permitting, vegetation and stream mapping, wetland functional assessments as well as other environmental services. Please visit our web site at 3ppi (dot) (com) Work Location: 3PPI maintains offices in both Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. While most of our current projects are located in Alaska, we also have other projects in the western and northeastern U.S. This position will be based out of our Anchorage Office, with field work in a variety of locations, most remote. Travel, up to 90 days per year, may be required. Requirements: The successful applicant must have a Masters or Doctorate degree in hydrology, geohydrology, or ecohydrology, and a minimum of 7 years of industry and/or consulting experience. This work experience should include some or all of the following fields: •Shallow and/or deep piezometer installation and monitoring •Measurements for changes in water volume due to evaporation, ground absorption, and melting of snow •Meteorological, surface water, and/or groundwater monitoring, including flow characterization •Regulatory permitting as it pertains to water quality •Leading a team in water sampling and related analytical data validation •Water balance modeling, including data synthesis, conceptual model development, interpretation of simulation results, multi-objective optimization, and/or stochastic groundwater modeling •Data management •Proficiency in common office computer programs, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and modeling programs •Leading work effort and preparation of high-quality professional reports •Application of knowledge to specific physical hydrogeology projects including pit/mine dewatering projects, tailings pond assessments, aquifer testing, environmental impact assessments for the resource industry, water supply work, and groundwater modeling •Leading a team and/or supervisory experience 3PPI staff must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
