Description:RTI?s Environment, Health, and Safety Division (EHSD) comprises nearly 100 environmental professionals, including more than 30 staff with expertise in water quality and integrated water resources management, as well as nationally-recognized experts in environmental science, engineering, economics, and statistics.This organization conducts pioneering research on critical national and state environmental issues and is seeking candidates to lead its research programs in water quality science and integrated water resources management. RTI's water quality research helps federal, state, and local governments develop and implement strategies to protect water resources. The successful candidate will have access to an extensive array of national water quality data sets, a sophisticated GIS program, and professionals with extensive experience in developing models and data management and decision-support tools within our advanced computing and applications development infrastructure. Requirements and Skills: ? Ph.D in Environmental Science /Engineering in a water resources related field and scientific stature in that discipline with publications in peer reviewed journals ? Minimum of five years of water resource and water quality research experience ? A demonstrated ability to direct scientific analysis and modeling relating to evaluating and managing water resources ? A strategic vision of the next ten years of water resources research and the ability to visualize our organization?s role in that effort ? Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams of expert scientists and engineers in research projects with measurable results ? Proven ability to manage contracts and develop strong, productive relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors ? Demonstrated business development success, including developing strategies, marketing, and sales. ? Experience in one or more of the following areas: integrated water resources management; watershed management and analysis; best management practices; watershed restoration; aquatic and marine ecosystems, and other issues related to inland and coastal waters ? Experience working with DOD installations and research agencies is highly desirable.
