Description:We invite applications for two Ph.D research assistantships in the Hydrology Program at New Mexico Tech. The positions are in the Surface Hydrology Research Group led by Prof. Enrique R. Vivoni. Our research group studies watershed and land surface processes through numerical simulations, remote sensing observations and field data collection. The projects will focus on (1) Hydrometeorological forecasting in the Colorado Front Range using quantitative precipitation estimates/forecasts and a distributed hydrological model (funded by the NWS Office of Hydrologic Development) and (2) Seasonal streamflow forecasting in the Rio Sonora, Mexico using remotely-sensed observations in a distributed hydrological model (funded by the NOAA Climate Program Office). Collaboration with the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR, Dr. David Gochis) will be part of both projects. Each research assistantship will require data collection, numerical modeling and analysis & synthesis efforts. The positions include a stipend, tuition, health insurance and travel to national conferences and field sites. For detailed inquiries, contact Prof. Enrique R. Vivoni. New Mexico Tech is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.Note: Please Mention Get Hydrology Jobs when applying
