ABOUT THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT: The Santa Barbara County Public Works Department consists of five divisions: Transportation, Resource Recovery and Waste Management, Flood Control & Water Resources, the County Surveyors Office, and Administration. The County's Public Works Department employees are committed to efficiently providing, operating and maintaining public works infrastructure, facilities and services to make everyday life as safe and convenient as possible for the public we serve. THE WATER RESOURCES DIVISION: The Water Resources Division of the Public Works Department consists of the Santa Barbara County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the Water Agency, and Project Clean Water. The Water Agency's purpose is enter into contracts for water supply, prepare investigations and reports on the County's water requirements, groundwater conditions, efficient use of water, and other water supply related technical studies, and manage a number of County-wide water related programs. Project Clean Water's mission is to provide leadership for compliance with the NPDES Municipal General Permit requirements and to advance sustainable storm water practices that protect our local water resources.
