Civil Engineer--Stream Restoration

WRA is seeking an energetic, career-minded water resources engineer with stream restoration experience to join us in our San Rafael office. Candidate will have a degree in civil engineering, with training in surface water hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and stream restoration. Candidates should also have consulting or project-oriented experience; training relevant to fluvial analysis and management; and excellent technical, computational, writing, and verbal communication skills. Additional requirements include having excellent personal motivation and being well organized, self-directed, responsible, and able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team on multi-faceted projects. Experience in California strongly desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
PE Registration in California;
7 years of professional water resources engineering experience, including project management;
Expertise in restoration of aquatic habitats, improvement of water quality and stormwater management;
Background in AutoCAD, GIS, and hydraulic models;
Expertise in modeling of channel and watershed processes and environmental hydrodynamics including pre- and post-construction runoff calculations;
Experience with channel and bank protection, sediment transport, riparian processes, and floodplain dynamics;
Experience with water quality BMPs, TMDLs, and the California environmental planning and regulatory environment;
Excellent communication, graphic, and organizational skills;
Proven experience in business development and managing clients.
Work may include the following:
Analyzing geomorphic, hydrologic, and hydraulic processes of streams and wetlands;
Assisting with preparation of bank stabilization, wetlands, and stream restoration plans;
Developing proposals and project budgets directed toward stream channel restoration, storm water management, and modeling of aquatic habitats and resources;
Managing projects and supervise project staff;
Leading and participating in meetings with clients or stakeholder groups.
