The Office of Columbia River (OCR) is looking to fill a Hydrogeologist 2 position. This position will be located in our Central Regional Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA.

The Hydrogeologist 2 position is responsible for providing technical services such as data collection, field measurements, hydrogeological data analysis and preparation and review of technical reports under the review of a Licensed Hydrogeologist. This position will directly support activities associated with the Groundwater Storage Element of the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan.

Duties

The mission of the Office of Columbia River (OCR) is to aggressively pursue the development of new water supplies for the Columbia River through conservation and storage projects.

Some of the key work activities of the Hydrogeologist 2 are:

Project Management:

Serves as a junior Hydrogeologist for the Office of Columbia River. Under the supervision of a licensed hydrogeologist, is responsible for managing grants, contracts, and interagency agreements, and new contract development.
Monitors the status of their scope of work completion on assigned grants and contracts.
Communicates the progress of contract deliverables to senior hydrogeologists and engineers within the Office of Columbia River.
Assists in communicating the status and future planning of groundwater storage projects develop new water supplies for the Yakima Basin, including SEPA as needed.

Hydrogeology Review:

Provides professional hydrogeologic assistance to support water right management decisions and aquifer storage and recovery projects in the Yakima Basin.
Reviews, analyzes, and collects hydrogeologic data.
Determines the hydrogeologic characteristic, such as seasonal water level variability, hydraulic conductivity, storage coefficients, direction of groundwater flow, and well interference.
Performs field investigations that may require stream flow measurements, aquifer tests, geologic mapping, aerial photograph analysis and water level measurements.
Utilizes PC based computer models to evaluate well/stream relationships, aquifer characteristics and well interference information, prepares written technical reports and reviews those submitted by consultants for technical accuracy and usability.

Meeting Coordination and Facilitation:

Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating YBIP groundwater subcommittee meetings.
Prepares agendas and minutes, compiles documents and project proposals for review by the subcommittees.
Communicates groundwater subcommittee input and project updates with other YBIP subcommittee facilitators regarding the status of YBIP groundwater subcommittee projects, budgets and groundwater subcommittee planning.
Provides status updates on groundwater subcommittee YBIP Projects and the Groundwater Storage Subcommittee to the Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement Program workgroup.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree involving major study in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology or closely allied field.

AND

Two years of professional experience as a hydrogeologist, hydrologist, geologist or closely allied profession.

OR

One year as a Hydrogeologist 1.

A Master's degree with major study in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology or closely allied field will substitute for the two years of experience.


Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
